The Samantha Lambert

We chat to Samantha Lambert, Founder of Marketing etc, to discuss the park industry, her role in it, and what she likes to do when not working.

Hi Samantha, so I knew you in your previous role, but tell me about Marketing etc?

We offer Marketing… etc. including strategy, social, creative… and other similar things. We’re all about creating simple yet effective marketing strategies that align with business goals and actually work – but we also love to have fun whilst doing so. Marketing etc. is run by myself and my sister, Faye, and we have a trusted network of freelancers, many of whom I met during my time in the leisure industry.

Of all the things in the industry, what is your favourite thing you like to do?

Story telling – There are so many interesting stories within the industry it’s really nice to be able to design marketing campaigns that communicate these amazing stories.

Any predictions for the industry in the next 24 months and what are your plans?

I think the most wonderful thing about the industry is how traditional it is. No matter how uncertain times can feel, the UK holiday industry is built on so much tradition that it’s a massive comfort and will continue to be so.

However, I’m also really pleased to see so many consumers and companies really embracing sustainability and I think the amount of people looking for holidays that are kinder to the environment will only continue to grow.

The same goes for Marketing etc. we’re really enjoying working with brands that are doing their part for the Climate Crisis and we’re really looking forward to working with more.

If you weren’t doing what you do, what would you be doing?

Anything that involved being creative or working with animals. I love what I do, especially the creative or strategic side but I love animals. I’m forever looking into how to become an animal behaviourist.

What do you like to do when not working? Any hobbies?

I’m interior obsessed so when I’m not working I can often be found with a paint brush or colour chart in hand.  I also do some freelance interior styling work and I’m currently dabbling with some wallpaper designs – anything where I can faff or be creative and I’m happy.

What has been your favourite professional moment?

There are honestly so many but my top moments would be… Setting up my own business with my best friend and sister, no day feels like a work day. Being responsible for the original brand concept, strategy and implementation for a now-thriving national leisure brand. Oh and fully wrapping a bus to look like a caravan, such a fun campaign.

Which clients would you love to help?

Anyone looking to grow their brand but we specifically love helping people that are really passionate about what they do, people that are working towards sustainability or any pet/animal clients of course.

Who in our series would you like to be seen interviewed?

I’d love to see more conversations around mental health and creating a positive culture in the workplace. I recently did my mental health first aid training with Dionne Tester of www.htctraining.org and could not recommend it more highly .
