Justin Allitt chats with Tracy Dallow from Dress Pack Solutions, to discuss the park industry, her role in it, and what her plans are for the business.
Hello Tracy, congratulations on Dress Packs Solutions. What inspired you to set it up?
Having worked on Parks for many years it became clear that whilst the manufacturers were producing more luxurious homes year on year there was no option to get the units dressed, or purchase dress packs that enhanced them. I saw a niche in the market and launched the company in 2017. I believe that if you want to achieve good sales figures the homes need to look good and stand out. Customers need to feel the excitement of the lifestyle on offer and a well-dressed home can do just that, reflecting well on the product and the Park.
What is your favourite item that you have bought to dress a home?
I like adding character to a home and having a bit of fun with a few items. I also like to add a touch of personalisation so perhaps taking inspiration from the location or park branding in some way, it’s just nice to be different.
How have you coped with running a business during the last turbulent 18 months?
It has been difficult for everyone in one way or another but the reason I wanted to stay in this industry when I left “park life” was because of the passion and resilience of everyone involved, that and the support for one another just kept it all going, especially in those difficult months. I feel very lucky that I was quiet for such a short time (although it felt like ages) and things have just got busier for us since.
How did the relationships with manufacturer’s come about?
A long term working relationship from when I was based on park and the timing of the manufacturer’s requirements for show dressing happening just as Dress Packs was beginning to get noticed. I love supporting manufacturers with shows and open days, I am excited to be back with Omar dressing their homes at shows for 2022.
What do you love about the job?
All of it (well mostly). I love what I do and when it’s not a struggle to get up for work and you enjoy it as much as I do I believe you’ve got it right!
If you weren’t doing what you are doing, what would you do?
Good question, I do like organising so maybe a wedding or event planner!
Who would you love to dress for?
I’ve been really fortunate that I have dressed homes from most of the manufacturer’s, I just have a couple more to tick off but for me, I enjoy the variety of all the makes and models, every day is different.
Tell me about future plans for Dress Packs.
I will continue to work really hard at building good relationships within the industry, It would be nice to think people are happy to recommend me for supplying dress packs for all makes, models and budgets. We have a new member of staff joining us shortly which I am really excited about and the difference another person will make to what we can achieve.
