Everyone knows Justin Sell My Group right? I’m sure you’ve all seen his interviews with people who build, supply and market our industry and like me, really enjoy them but wondered when it’s his turn! Well, the tables have turned and I took the opportunity to grab Justin Allitt for his own 5 minutes of fame!

Can you give us a brief introduction to Sell My Group and who is your customer?

Sell My Group is a website designed to help buyers connect with park operators, manufacturers, and suppliers.

We do this with the help of social media, an extensive database, portals and of course, our website. Our goal is to promote the park industry in a positive light, through all our channels

What is your background before Sell My Group?

I have been involved in and owned many businesses throughout the years. This includes owning a wholesale coffee company and supplying local restaurants, cafes, and hotels. It was an interesting business to be involved with, and it was fun to get geeky over coffee. However, there was a downside, I would constantly drink espressos, so was wired most of the time!

Before that, I jointly owned a chain of estate agents, which consisted of six offices and twenty-six staff. Unfortunately, my business partner passed away and the business never really recovered. Both personally and financially it was a very difficult time for me and my family. Luckily, the park industry found me in 2012 and like many others, I just love it and the characters in it.

Being such a well-known figure in our industry I’m sure you must hear lots of opinions from various sectors but how do you see 2024, as a whole and for yourselves?

The industry is always in flux, but one trend we’re particularly excited about is the integration of platforms like TikTok into our marketing strategy. The unique algorithm of TikTok, which emphasises user engagement and watch time, aligns with our aim to create compelling, interactive content. It’s not merely about being present on the platform; it’s about trying to master the art of storytelling in a way that captivates and resonates with our audience.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I’m really boring, but I do like to see friends and family and hang out with my dog Geoff. He’s a cross between a pointer and a lab, he’s a bit needy, but we get on well. These times though simple, are the ones that recharge and inspire me for the challenges of the business world.

What has been your favourite professional moment?

That would be my stint as a property auctioneer. The pre-auction nerves often got hold of me, but the thrill of a successful auction was a great feeling. I recall a friend suggesting a half pint to calm the nerves, and let’s just say, two pints later, my confidence was sky-high. Thankfully, it all went smoothly, obviously, I wouldn’t recommend this 😊.

Do you have any advice for those starting in the industry?

The industry is as much about relationships as it is about products. My advice would be to invest in genuine connections and approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset. I’m a big believer in business karma, help people where you can.
